A 2D animated fantasy/adventure about a secret island and the unusual characters stranded there from different worlds.
Created by just 4 HUMANS, and NO AI.
Trailer coming soon!@cynemical @soap_tears @kotton_pop pic.twitter.com/Pu0FuZcirE
A 2D animated fantasy/adventure about a secret place that invites new friends to call it home. No one intends to come here; apart from a powerful tuna conglomerate, no one on Earth knows the place exists. However, castaways often arrive during significant life events, typically through what seems like magic teleportation, by tripping over their shoelaces or, more commonly, a few centuries ago, due to a shipwreck. Once they arrive, they embark on a journey to uncover the Islands' purpose for them.
That is, until one day, a visitor who wasn't part of The Islands' plan arrives: Merk, an 11-year-old boy with a severe case of main character syndrome. After tinkering with some equipment during a field trip to the Tin & Fin Company, he accidentally finds himself stranded on the shores of The Islands.
Now, Merk faces the challenge of returning home and vlogs the entire experience after retrofitting the Tin & Fin equipment to establish the first internet connection from The Islands to Earth. Along the way, he shares the stories of the castaways he encounters, whether they've been there for hundreds of years or are fresh catches who just arrived a few hours ago.
What Merk doesn't expect is to become central to saving The Islands and its inhabitants from the evil plans of the Tin & Fin Company. Will Merk learn to be selfless and help his new friends, or will his desire to go home prevail?
Concepts from pre-production of Castaways
The animated series will follow Merk's point of view and be distributed as shorts across our socials on Tik Tok, Youtube, and Instagram. We expect to drop a few more announcements before the premiere. One regarding the high profile cast list and then of course the trailer!
The series is being developed in house by show runner Dayton Mills and just 4 other people on our incredible team:
Emily Satterfield: Lead Artist & Character Animator. With an impressive background at Nickelodeon Animation Studios, Warner Bros, and DreamWorks. She’s a master of breathing personality into her work. Now, she leads the artistic vision for Castaways.
Kimberly Gouge: Character Artist & Animator. Kimberly's work has shaped some of the most stylish and expressive animated characters in recent years. She played a key role in Marvel’s Hit-Monkey and captured the rebellious energy of Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel at SpindleHorse.
Sophie Feher: Character Artist, Storyboard Artist, Writer. Previously spent time on Lego Fortnite and built a substantial personal social media following with her webcomics and short films. She is now leading the writing on the short Castaways episodes.
Joel Ford: Music, Sound Designer. Previously mixed and mastered the critically acclaimed music for Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda: Cadence of Hyrule. He produced the music for Hollow Knight. And his work won a Juno award on Teen Daze’s “Interiors” LP. He’s now designing all of the music, sound, foley for Castaways.
