In the summer of 2023, Castaways creator Dayton Mills and sound designer Joel Ford put their heads together to create the Castaways Original Soundtrack Vol. 1. Drawing inspiration from various cult hero synthesiser wizards and OST legends like Wally Badaru and Jan Hammer, Joel composed and produced a 27 track instrumental electronic odyssey. From the wondrous baroque synth plucks of “Bird Feeder” to the joyous electro-bounce of “Fruits and Vegetables”, Castaways OST Vol. 1 takes the listener on a journey through all the highs, lows, and many moods of the game. Although Castaways OST Vol. 1 marks Ford’s first full OST composition, Ford is no stranger to working in Game Audio, especially when it comes to electronic music production and mixing. He mixed and mastered the music for the critically acclaimed Nintendo game,"Legend of Zelda: Cadence of Hyrule". In recognition of his outstanding mixing work on Teen Daze's "Interiors" LP, Joel was honoured with a 2023 Juno Award for Best Electronic Music Album. Joel has mixed and mastered other various game audio soundtracks, including "Return of the Obra Dinn", "Hollow Knight," in addition to several titles for Brace Yourself Games. In early 2023 Joel became a full time Sound Designer for Branch Technologies, based in Seattle, WA, where he continues to develop and integrate sounds for “Castaways.” Joel works out of his studio in the Greater New York City Area.
